9 Kings 1.0 Returning Player Guide: Current Modes, Joker, and What to Play Next

What You Can Play Now, and What 1.0 Plans to Add

Before returning, separate content into "already available" and "planned":

Content Status Notes
Nine Kings Available now The core single-player deckbuilding choice
classic single-player mode Available now The core single-player mode playable during EA
Quest Available now An existing mode alongside the classic single-player mode
Joker custom mode Planned for 1.0 A custom mode where you assemble a 9-card deck and set the rules

Joker is positioned as a custom mode: players can assemble their own deck of 9 cards, and the rules are yours to set. In the September 16 announcement, the developer confirmed 1.0 launches on November 12, and Joker will arrive with this full-version update.

The Scale of 1.0 Content: Officially Announced Planned Numbers

Category Planned total at 1.0
Cards 130+
Decrees 140+
Perks 110+
Quests 80+

The four numbers in the table are the planned totals for version 1.0 stated in the official announcement; among them, 30+ new decrees will be added, and each king will have 9 exclusive decrees.

Three Places to Start After Returning

1. Look up card data in the Compendium. The October 7 patch 0.9.8 added card data to the Compendium, so every card's stats can be read directly there; the September 15 update also added Compendium viewing for Rainbow and Chaos cards already used. For deckbuilding players, this is the most direct entry point for getting familiar with the current card pool.

The Compendium gathers card data in one place, making it easy to compare the units and cards in your current build.

2. Start a run on the updated version. The 0.9.8 patch notes recommend starting a new run after updating to experience this round of adjustments.

3. Plan your post-completion single-player route. See the 9 Kings Post-Completion Route Guide.
